I don't agree with everything he says (generally, not just in the interview) but his documentries are excellent.
"the moods move through society. It’s something we’re often unaware of these days because we’re so obsessed by our own experience, that the mood we feel is probably common to a lot of other people at this point in time. I would refer to sociologists like Durkheim, who, back in the late nineteenth century, told us something that we forget these days, which is that we’re actually very similar to each other. And a lot of what we think comes from inside of us actually comes from outside."

Workshop: Plausible Worlds with Critical Writing

Our brief -
Project 5. Rurality Bites
In 2007, for the first time in history, more people were living in cities than in rural areas. If we imagine the migration and breeding patterns to continue exponentially, we can imagine a world, as Ballard did with his short story 'Billenium', where generations of citizens live only in cities. How might these future urbanites understand agriculture, farming, landscape, animals? How might they be educated or in what ways might they gain access to the areas beyond the outskirts?

30 January – DAVID HOCKNEY: A BIGGER PICTURE: A documentary film, and after, a Q and A with David Hockney and Bruno Wollheim
To coincide with David Hockney's major solo show at the Royal Academyopening in January 2012, Bruno Wollheim will talk about the detailed processes of making his documentary. Shot single-handedly over three years and with unprecedented access, the film follows Hockney’s efforts to disengage from photography and find artistic and spiritual renewal by working outside for the first time, presenting a perceptive examination of the creative process and an intimate account of what inspires and motivates this world-famous artist as time runs out. Bruno Wollheim is an independent documentary film-maker with a special interest in the visual arts and social policy and has made many films for the BBC and Channel 4. He has known David Hockney for 25 years. The film is 60 minutes.
